Leduc Travel Guide
Welcome to Leduc!
Since Leduc's humble beginnings in the late 1800s, this city has since flourished into a booming oil and gas economy, rich in natural resources. Located only a few minutes south of Edmonton, Alberta, Leduc is a popular stopping point for people commuting between Calgary and Edmonton. Explore the oil boom that has defined this city's identity with a visit to the Canadian Petroleum Interpretive Centre. Located just outside Devon, this historical site celebrates the grit, ambition and success of the Alberta oil patch with preserved oil rigs and vibrant indoor and outdoor exhibits showcasing its history and technology. But Leduc has a vibrant historical past in its own right beyond oil and gas. Farming is what established this town, which is reflected in the preservation of its last elevator that now has historical status from the province of Alberta, and tours can be arranged. The Doctor Woods House Museum retains its original and authentic 1927 charm, being the former home and practise of a local physician. Or visit the Stone Barn Garden, which is a skeletal replica of an historical barn enhanced with a variety of foliage. For recreation, Telford Lake is the site for rowing competitions in the summer and ice racing in the winter and provides ample opportunity for bird watching.
